“Fundraising for Jeepney Drivers”
Before my birthday, I have thought of doing fundraising for jeepney drivers. It’s been all over the news that they were one of those who were very much affected of the Enhanced Community Quarantine here in the Philippines. Most of them lives on the streets or jeepney terminals because they can no longer pay their rents. They have been begging for six months now to feed their family, worst, to sustain their maintenance pills, etc.
This is really heartbreaking to see that there’s nothing we can do about it. Our economy is down and most of the giant companies have closed. I don’t have much to give and I thought to raise funds so I can help them in a small way.
Usually, I spend this special day with friends and family having a meal. And now, I wish to make this birthday different and memorable. I did push thru the raising of funds and it was a success with the help of my friends and family. The targeted date to distribute the goods was Sunday, Aug 23. We did the shopping and packing before that and finished just right on time.
I was excited the next day to distribute all the goods. We started early morning and finished by noon. It was a tiring but fulfilling day. It was a great feeling that you’ll see the smiles on the faces of the jeepney drivers whenever they receive 2 bags of goods. They were so thankful and glad that they have food on their tables.
To my friends and family who supported me all the way, I am very grateful. Thank you would not be enough. It will not be possible without your assistance. You’re the greatest. Thank you so much again. You guys were amazing! I hope this will not be the first and last. More abundance ahead of us. God Bless us
